ORIENTAL POPPY FLOWER

ORIENTAL POPPY FLOWER

Native to the Caucasus, northeastern Turkey, and northern Iran, the Oriental poppy or Papaver orientale is a perennial flowering plant. In spring, these flowers pitch up a dune of superbly cut, hairy foliage. However, just after flowering, the foliage dies away completely. This is the reason why these flowers grow in the summer drought of Central Asia.

During the autumn rain, fresh leaves of this plant sprouts. As the name suggests, the Oriental poppy does not initially come from the Orient. The flower is usually multicoloured, but it also appears in white, pink and red.
